About Me
James has extensive experience in high-value domestic and cross-border transactions involving renewable energy projects, with a focus on providing strategic structuring advice on transactional documentation for joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and financing.

James holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) / Bachelor of Economics (2012) from the Australian National University as well as Master of Law (2013). James is not currently practising as a lawyer but is admitted in the Supreme Court of NSW, Australia and in England and Wales.
Notable Experience

Advised on and negotiated a joint development agreement for 237 MWp ground mounted solar photovoltaic projects in Italy and the Netherlands between Greencells Group and Blue Elephant Energy AG

Advised on the proposed ASEAN Green SRI Sukuk (~US$45 million) rated AA3/Stable lodged with the Security Commission of Malaysia, a conventional term and Islamic term project financing facilities from MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Berhad (~US$35 million), and Greencells Hungary Kft’s construction short term facility (~EUR 14 million) extended by OTP Bank Nyrt.

Supported Greencells in securing its Green Bond listed with the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (~EUR15 million)

Advised on numerous acquisitions and development of renewable energy projects accounting for at least 1GW in total capacity in Europe, Africa, and Asia

Managing the legal aspects of the supply and construction sub-contracts, long-term project finance agreements and successful divestment to institutional investors of the 74MW Vandel Solar Park, Scandinavia's largest solar park.

Legal manager for the acquisition, development and divestment of the six solar PV projects located in the UK to institutional investors in Denmark, including one private PPA project.

Legal manager for the negotiation and drafting of acquisition and project contracts as well as advising on structuring of 180 MW solar portfolio in Brazil.

Secondment to NEOEN Australia to assist with the development, construction and debt financing of the 100MW Hornsdale Wind Farm (stage 1) project near Jamestown in South Australia.

Advising NEOEN Australia in the acquisition of the DeGrussa Solar Farm - a 10.6 MW solar PV project that will be integrated into the existing diesel generator facility to power the DeGrussa Copper Mine in remote Western Australia.

Advising Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malaysia) on its acquisition of a 50 percent interest in the A$1.2 billion Macarthur wind farm in Victoria from Meridian Energy.
